Eastgate Shopping Centre helps raise more than £20,000 for Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal

Eastgate Shopping Centre has helped raise more than £20,000 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, alongside neighbouring King’s Walk Shopping Centre, supporting veterans, serving personnel and their families.

The fundraising total was achieved through generous cash and card donations from shoppers, retailers and on-site teams. Cleaners, security staff and centre management also played a key role, ensuring collection points were visible and well supported throughout the appeal.

Eastgate Shopping Centre contributed £14,399.42 to the overall figure, accounting for the majority of the total raised. The centre also provided prominent space for Poppy Appeal collection points, helping to maximise engagement and encourage public donations.

The success forms part of the wider Gloucester City Poppy Appeal, which has raised £62,625.43 to date. Funds raised through the appeal help provide lifelong support to serving and former members of the Armed Forces community.

Jason Robinson, Senior Destination Manager for Eastgate Shopping Centre, said the result reflected the spirit of the local community. He said the generosity shown by shoppers, retailers and on-site teams demonstrated a shared commitment to supporting an important cause.

Bob Perkins, Poppy Appeal Organiser for the City of Gloucester, thanked Eastgate Shopping Centre for its continued support. He said the contribution made a real difference and highlighted the importance of community-led fundraising efforts.
