New report highlights community and sustainability impact at Eastgate Shopping Centre
A new sustainability and social value report has revealed the growing impact of activity at Eastgate Shopping Centre in Gloucester. The findings show how The Eastgate is helping to support local communities and improve environmental performance.
The Social Value Impact Report highlights activity across the wider King’s Quarter portfolio. It includes Eastgate Shopping Centre, King’s Walk Shopping Centre, Kings Square, King’s House, St Oswalds Retail Park and The Forum.
Supporting local communities at The Eastgate
Over the past year, The Eastgate has played a key role in delivering community focused initiatives. These include work experience placements for local students and accessible events with the Gloucestershire Deaf Association.
The ReFresh Opportunities Fair also helped connect local people with volunteering, employment and training opportunities. The event created a welcoming space for residents to explore new pathways.
Community partnerships have continued to grow, alongside charity fundraising events and seasonal campaigns. These activities support those most in need across Gloucester.
Working together across Gloucester city centre
Activity at The Eastgate forms part of a wider effort across Gloucester city centre. Community events in Kings Square, including family days and fundraising events, have helped bring people together.

Improving environmental performance

Will James, Marketing and Commercialisation Manager for the King’s Quarter, said the report reflects the growing role destinations can play. He highlighted the importance of supporting local communities and improving sustainability.
He said the team is proud of the progress made over the past year. Plans are already in place to build on this momentum.
