Undies Under The Tree – GCM Christmas Appeal
The much loved Christmas underwear appeal is back at The Eastgate this year and once again aims to support Gloucester City Mission and its work with those experiencing homelessness in the city. Every year Gloucester City Mission spend roughly £6,000 purchasing underwear that is distributed to rough sleepers in Gloucester, or through the Restore Clothes Bank.
Underwear remains the one essential clothing item that cannot be donated second hand which means the charity must purchase thousands of pounds worth every year for rough sleepers and those accessing the Restore Clothes Bank. Last year saw more than 550 pairs donated by the public and hopes are high for an even bigger festive total in 2025.
The charity is specifically requesting:
- Men’s boxer shorts, sizes Medium & Small
- Women’s briefs, sizes 8, 10 and 12
The donation cabinet for the Undies Under The Tree campaign is located outside GCM Coffee Lounge (formerly the Revive Coffee House) in the Eastgate Shopping Centre and will remain there until Saturday, 3rd January 2026 so shoppers can drop items in between gift buying and hot chocolate breaks.

Louise MacKenzie, General Manager at Gloucester City Mission, said:
“We were overwhelmed last year and cannot wait to see the response again in 2025. A simple pair of underwear is not glamorous but it is vital for dignity confidence and comfort and that matters every single day of the year. If you are able to pick up a pack while out shopping this Christmas you will lift the spirits of someone who truly needs community support and kindness.”
Jason Robinson, Senior Destination Manager of the Eastgate Shopping Centre, added:
“Gloucester shows up beautifully for this campaign and we are delighted to house the donation point once more. If you are in town and want to give back there are plenty of places to pick up a multipack from Primark H&M or Marks and Spencer. It only takes a moment to donate but the difference is huge for those on the receiving end.”
