Good News for Shoppers: Easier Parking Coming to Eastgate Shopping Centre
Visitors to Eastgate Shopping Centre can look forward to a smoother, more convenient parking experience in 2025, thanks to Gloucester City Council bringing the management of local car parks back in house.
This new approach means that both the Eastgate Shopping Centre and King’s Walk multi-storey car parks will now be directly managed by Gloucester City Council. With new systems on the way, the move is expected to make it even easier for shoppers to park and enjoy their time in the city centre.
As part of the improvements, the council is set to introduce eight new pay and display machines that work with digital platforms such as MiPermit. This means visitors will be able to extend or pre-book their stay, or even purchase parking permits, all from their mobile phones—adding flexibility and convenience for every visit.
The change also allows for a more modern and updated parking system across these key city centre locations. For Eastgate visitors, that means more time shopping, dining, or exploring the local area, and less time worrying about the clock.
The new system will also deliver cost savings for the council, helping to free up resources that can be invested elsewhere in the community. It’s a win-win for shoppers and the wider city.
Declan Wilson, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Resources at Gloucester City Council, said:
“This has the potential to make it easier for shoppers to visit our city and allow them to spend more time enjoying the shops and restaurants when they do. Not only will it bring our car parks up to date but will also allow us to save money which could be better spent elsewhere.”
With simpler payment options and direct management by the council, Eastgate Shopping Centre visitors can look forward to a more seamless and enjoyable experience from the moment they arrive.
